Edison’s Children
After 30 years of playing in some of the greatest bands in the world…
Edison’s Children is a chance for Pete Trewavas to take a more intimate approach and explore many other areas of his creativity. In the forthcoming album “In The Last Waking Moments…”, Pete will be joining up with one of his very good friends and long time friend of the band Marillion, Eric Blackwood to write and do some things he’s never done before… like sing lead vocals on a track or two… see Pete play lead guitar!… full out keyboards and maybe even… drums? (oh yeah and the occasion bass).

After releasing part one of The Audio Guide, which received critical acclaim and was deemed by many one of the top albums of the year, JOLLY toured the US and Europe. Again, the airplane food was salty and the flight was long, but the band watched reruns of Friends to pass the time. Shortly after returning from tour, Mike Portnoy asked JOLLY to open for his band Flying Colors at Best Buy Theater in Times Square. He even said: “I am a big fan of the last two Jolly albums and handpicked them to open the Flying Colors show in NYC.”

JOLLY Unveils Music Video for “Dust Nation Bleak” from the New Album, The Audio Guide To Happiness (Part 2)

February 28, 2013 by NJProghouse

JOLLY2 With the release of JOLLY‘s new album The Audio Guide To Happiness (Part 2) only a week away, the band has unveiled their first video for their premier single, “Dust Nation Bleak.”

The Audio Guide to Happiness (Part 2) has come to symbolize JOLLY’s triumph over Hurricane Sandy, the devastating storm that wreaked havoc on their studio and left Drummer/Producer Louis Abramson homeless just weeks before its completion. Luckily the album was saved from the disaster, completed in various friends living rooms, and is being released March 5th via InsideOut Music.

JOLLY’S new music video “Dust Nation Bleak” is filmed directly from the eye of the storm- recorded in the ruins of their studio, and home base. From the outside it may appear to be just another rock video in a gritty setting, but this location represents the sacred remains of JOLLY’s birthplace, and carries deep significance.  The band comments: “When God gives you lemons, make a music video.  JOLLY loves you.”

View the video for “Dust Nation Bleak” here:

In March 2011, JOLLY released The Audio Guide To Happiness (Part 1), the first of a two-part series designed to bring listeners to a state of true happiness. To optimize the JOLLY listening experience, the band collaborated with a professor and graduate students at a nearby university, conducting studies on over 5,000 subjects to perfect the usage of binaural tones in their music.

Jolly will be coming to the NJProghouse on May 6,2013 along with Riverside. (read more)

JOLLY to Release New Album, The Audio Guide To Happiness (Part 2), March 5; Announces US Tour Dates

January 14, 2013 by NJProghouse

jolly

January 14, 2013 (Los Angeles, CA) – In March 2011, rock act JOLLY released The Audio Guide To Happiness (Part 1), the first of a two-part series designed to bring listeners to a state of true happiness. To optimize the JOLLY listening experience, the band collaborated with a professor and graduate students at a nearby university, conducting studies on over 5,000 subjects to perfect the usage of binaural tones in their music.

Precisely two years after the release of part 1, The Audio Guide To Happiness (Part 2) has arrived and is set for a North American released date of March 5, 2013 via InsideOut Music.  A list of European release dates can also be seen below.

In October 2012, Hurricane Sandy struck JOLLY hard, destroying drummer/producer Louis Abramson’s home, which also functioned as the band’s practice space and recording studio. All of Louis’ possessions and a lot of the band’s equipment were ruined. The members of JOLLY were devastated, and the timing couldn’t have been worse, as the band was in the midst of finalizing The Audio Guide To Happiness (Part 2).  In need of new equipment, JOLLY started a fundraising campaign and their incredible fans came through in a big way to help the band rebuild after this major disaster.  Beyond the music, The Audio Guide To Happiness (Part 2) is a standing symbol of JOLLY’s recovery from the storm.

“We couldn’t be more excited to finally share The Audio Guide To Happiness (Part 2) with the world,” comments the band.  “After the devastation we experienced with Hurricane Sandy, we have been in a rebuilding phase, and the release of this album stands as a major milestone in our recovery.  Musically, we set out to make Audio Guide 2 our richest sounding record, offering solid hooks, interesting arrangements and sonic textures that cover a wide range of styles.  We’re extremely proud of what we created.

Even without considering the binaural brainwave technology embedded throughout, this album offers the listener an experience like no other.  JOLLY pushes the limits of accessibility in The Audio Guide to Happiness (Part 2) with its powerful riffs, infectious hooks, and undeniable grooves, all within the context of their signature JOLLY atmosphere.  Your first listen will leave you thinking, and your second will leave you a fan for life.

In support of the new album, JOLLY will join label-mates RIVERSIDE on a small tour starting at the end of April, which follows a month of overseas dates with Riverside in March.  A list of North American dates can be seen below.

Help local NYC band JOLLY Recover From Hurricane Sandy

November 15, 2012 by NJProghouse

Our good friends from NYC, and “future” NJP alumni JOLLY suffered a devastating loss brought forth by the destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy.

In September 2012, we were fortunate enough to secure the biggest opportunity of our career to date; a spring 2013 tour opening for Riverside to promote our upcoming album, “The Audio Guide To Happiness (Part 2).”

On October 29th, 2012, Hurricane Sandy brought major flooding to Rockaway Park, destroying our drummer Louis’ home, which also functioned as JOLLY’s practice space and recording studio. Despite efforts to elevate valuables and board up windows, the storm surge exceeded all expectations, busting through the boarded windows and ripping through our headquarters, completely destroying most of our equipment and Louis’ personal possessions. A majority of what we used to make our music was violently tossed around and left covered in sewage water, mud, sand, and garbage.

We’re looking to rebuild and get new gear to continue making music for all of you, the incredible people who have always been the foundation of JOLLY.   In order to make this album and tour possible, we are calling on you, our fans and friends, to help us with this effort. [CONTINUE READING]
