NJProghouse Founder Jim Robinson Heart Attack Recovery Fundraiser

September 21, 2018 by NJProghouse

Our dear friend Jim Robinson has suffered a massive heart attack, requiring intensive treatment and a long and challenging period of recovery. While Jim recovers in the hospital, his wife Sharon and son Jacob have been alternating between visits to him and managing life from and at home, as well as school and work. As the days pass, costs for Jim’s care and the needs of Sharon and Jacob will continue to mount. In our common love and care for Jim, we are asking for people to contribute to the fund we have established for Jim and his family. Any amount would be most appreciated. Thank you so much. http://www.njproghouse.com/jim-robinson-heart-attack-recovery-fund/

The next couple of months….

September 14, 2018 by NJProghouse

NJ Proghouse founder Jim Robinson suffered a massive heart attack last Thursday, September 6th. He has received and is continuing to receive treatment in hospital intensive care. Recovery is expected to take weeks if not longer. Due to the severity of Jim’s condition, we will need to cancel our upcoming Soft Machine/Accordo di Contrari/Beledo show that’s scheduled for October 9th. (Ticketholders will be receiving full refunds shortly.) Any thoughts and good wishes for Jim’s continued recovery would be most welcome.

We appreciate your understanding.

3RDEGREE RELEASES SIXTH STUDIO ALBUM ONES & ZEROS: VOLUME 0 WITH U.S./CANADA TOUR TO IMMEDIATELY FOLLOW

April 18, 2018 by NJProghouse

New album is companion piece to 2015’s ONES & ZEROS: VOLUME 1
Independent American progressive rock band 3RDegree will release the follow-up to Ones & Zeros: Volume 1 on April 30, 2018. Envisioned as a prequel (that’s still a thing right?), it is aptly titled Ones & Zeros: Volume 0. Where Volume 1 imagined a world transformed by a Technological Singularity, Volume 0 supplies the backstory nearer to present-day.

Instead of a landscape dominated by a ubiquitous corporation, the world is seen through the eyes of cybernetic
companions, ambi]ous transhumanist parents, lonely internet trolls, social-media addicts trying to expand their personal brand and elites buying acres in New Zealand to ride out the apocalypse. And in true 3RDegree fashion, this is all delivered with a healthy dose of dark humor using melodic, song-based progressive rock as the vehicle.

3RDegree are coming off a high following 2015’s Ones & Zeros: vol. 1-the final release from 10T Records.
The collection garnered the best reviews of their career including a third-place finish on Progarchives.com’s year-end list just behind Anekdoten and Steven Wilson. It also set them on a tour that included five European countries and several US states, highlighted by performances at the Summer’s End Festival (UK) and 2016’s RoSfest in Gegysburg, Pennsylvania. Their most recent appearance at the budding ProgStock Festival (NJ), featured a stage show replete with ornate video
backdrop and a Ted Talk-ish narrator purpor]ng to be from the fictious Valhalla Biotech Corporation which features large in Ones & Zeros.

The CD will be available via PayPal directly from the band at www.3RDegreeONLINE.com, at the band’s
Bandcamp page 3RDegree.bandcamp.com as well as from many prog rock retailers worldwide such as

Just For Kicks (Germany), Syn-Phonic (US), KinesisCD (US) and others. Download will be available on
iTunes, Amazon and most others although 24bit/44.1khz version will be exclusive to Bandcamp and the
band’s website.

The “Ones & Zeros Show” Tour 2018 (previewed here in the video below) comes to the following cities and
venues on these dates:
May 11 The Delancey New York, NY
May 12 Private Event Bal]more area (email band for invita]on)
May 13 Roxy & Dukes Roadhouse (NJ Proghouse presents) Dunellen, NJ
May 15 Reggie’s Chicago, IL
May 16 Wilbert’s Cleveland, OH
May 18 The Port Theater Cornwall, ON Canada
May 19 Starlite Southbridge, MA
May 20 The Hatbox Theater Concord, NH
Please note that a special “meet & greet” with members of the band will take place in the merch rooms
at RoSfest at the Majestic Theater in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania all day Saturday, May 5th.

To Whoever You Are Now: Pinnacle is funding the final production of their fourth album.

March 25, 2018 by NJProghouse

Longtime NJProghouse Staph members “Karl, Bill, & Greg”  collectively known as Pinnacle are funding the final production of their fourth album “To: Whoever You Are Now”

To: Whoever You Are Now

We’re an independent progressive rock band from Pennsylvania/New Jersey. We’ve been working together continuously since 2003 and have released three albums in that time. We’re making this music simply because we love it, and we have no illusions of rock super-stardom. We simply want to share our creation with like-minded music fans.

We’re all genuinely of the opinion that this is the best work we’ve done so far. It’s the first album we’ve written and arranged as a four-piece band since we were a trio through most of the creation of the previous album and only brought Matt Francisco into the fold toward the end of the process. We decided to stay away from the epic-length pieces that have been on the previous two albums and focus on shorter, more focused songs that still hold onto the best progressive rock traditions. (Note that the term “shorter” is relative. 4 of the 10 songs are in the eight-minute range.)

On offer, in exchange for your contribution, are a variety of perks ranging from digital downloads of the new album to in-person and internet-based lessons on how to play a Pinnacle song of your choosing to private performances and even a nearly one-of-a-kind guitar. Your contribution to this project will make it possible for us to give the album the release, support, and promotion that we feel it deserves. Soon we will have the live show polished and ready to take on the road and hope to meet our contributors and thank you all in person.

Head on over here: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/to-whoever-you-are-now and support this fantastic project

Tangekanic release their debut physical product in the form of a live album “HOTEL CANTAFFORDIT” (Recorded live at the NJProghouse)

February 11, 2018 by NJProghouse

Tangekanic release their debut physical product in the form of a live album “HOTEL CANTAFFORDIT” recorded on one night in a nice tight New Jersey club right at the end of the USA leg of their 2017 tour.

Tangekanic is a touring unit that plays the music of both The Tangent and Karmakanic and features members of both, working together in one collaborative set.

Jonas Reingold – Bass Guitar
Andy Tillison – Keyboards & Vocals
Göran Edman – Vocals
Luke Machin – Guitar
Steve Roberts – Drums

The shows were exceptionally well recieved:

“One of the most moving performances this humble reviewer has ever witnessed….. this was a performance few present will ever forget” – ROCK SOCIETY magazine

“This is an effortless masterclass through some of the finest songs the bands have to offer” – PROG Magazine

“We went across Europe and took the rather mad decision to go to the States too” says Flower Kings/Tangent/Karmakanic/Steve Hackett bass player Jonas Reingold. ” We overcame a lot of problems and went and played our music to the world and fortunately the world seemed to quite like it”

Especially Micro-Polynesia apparently, as Jonas explains on the album. As the rag-tag band of rebellious prog rockers traversed continents in uncomfortable vans, stayed in horrible (and lovely) hotels, fought their way through the sea of bureaucracy to get into the USA, got searched and starved in Switzerland, waited in the rain for breakdown trucks, lost hotels in the dark, and lived on a finely balanced shoestring tightrope for a couple of months they managed to do the shows missing one of the members who had been forced to pull out days before the tour began. They wrote a song behind stage in the hour before their show at the UK Summers End festival and blew the house down with it. They played in the open air during a thunderstorm, they had one gig cancelled in the USA without the owner bothering to contact them… they didn’t get paid at a gig in Germany despite having a great night there, and they didn’t for one second think of packing up and going home.

Those lucky enough to see the tour were unaware that in 2017 THREE members of the band would be recognised in an important magazine’s poll and gain top five instrumentalist ratings in their categories, Luke Machin coming in at #5 guitarist, Jonas Reingold as #5 bassist, Andy Tillison as #1 keyboards player in the PROG magazine poll – and not only that but the Tangent’s 2017 studio album “The Slow Rust Of Forgotten Machinery” also made #5.

Now’s the time for you to check out the opinions of the magazines, the polls, the publicity, whatever. You can hear Tangekanic play a set of songs from their most recent output on this one hour plus real live recording.. (not a studio album with audience noise), crowd funded by the band’s most loyal supporters. Made in a small intimate venue that has for years championed progressive Music in the USA, the New Jersey Proghouse. Hear Karmakanic’s half hour epic “God The Universe and Everything Else Nobody Really cares About” butted up to The Tangent’s straight between the eyes instrumental “Doctor Livingstone I Presume” and yes, you can get to hear the track that got everyone talking “Sanctuary In Music” complete with its 30 seconds of silence for the victims of three concert massacres of recent years.

It was the boldest and most amazing of adventures.

The album is available to pre-order now at

EchoTest
https://www.facebook.com/slickmachera/

EchoTest is the bass-centric progressive rock brainchild of Julie Slick (Adrian Belew Power Trio, Crimson ProjeKct) and Italian musician Marco Machera (Paul Gilbert). The sound they create is not quite what one would expect from a couple of traditionally low end instruments; it’s a reinvention of the role of solo electric bass and brilliantly displays the songwriting abilities of the duo… a captivating combination of loop music, ambient dreamy soundscapes and interlocking bass patterns, always melodic yet aggressive and edgy at times. Their live show also features drummer Alessandri Inolti (Fabrizio Morro) and Philly-area vocalist + multi-instrumentalist Jenny Founds (Start Making Sense).
